Wilson Ng

Lauded for his exceptional technique and musical imagination, Wilson Ng is currently Associate Conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and Artistic Director of the Gustav Mahler Orchestra Hong Kong having become laureate of the Mahler Competition in Bamberg, the Solti International Conductors' Competition in Frankfurt and the Svetlanov International Conducting Competition in Paris.

Following his debut performance with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, he was re-engaged to conduct at high-profile events including the Seoul Arts Center Orchestra Festival’s opening concerts in 2019 and 2020, and the Seoul Philharmonic’s first live-streamed online concerts. His growing reputation led him to conduct the Korean Symphony Orchestra, Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, and Korean Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra.

In Europe, he has worked with many leading orchestras including the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. His debut with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie at the Alte Oper Frankfurt with Scriabin’s The Poem of Ecstasy was acclaimed by the Frankfurter Rundschau as “The Pinnacle of Ecstasy”.

Wilson Ng began his career as a flautist prior to specializing in conducting. He pursued his advanced conducting studies at the Universität der Künste Berlin, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, as well as the conducting academies of the Pacific Music Festival and Aspen Music Festival where he was awarded the James Conlon Conductor Prize.

Zee Zee plays regularly with leading orchestras worldwide such as the BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Minnesota Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Seattle Symphony, with conductors including Marin Alsop, Rune Bergmann, Charles Dutoit, Domingo Hindoyan, Paavo Järvi, Neeme Järvi, Jun Märkl, Julian Rachlin, Roberto Trevino and Xian Zhang.

Zee Zee gives recitals at the Wigmore Hall, De Doelen, Kennedy Center, Vancouver Recital Society, Casa da Musica in Porto and Hong Kong’s Premiere Performances, plays at festivals such as Lucerne Festival, Aspen, Gilmore, Klavier-Festival Ruhr and the BBC Proms. She was a BBC New Generation Artist from 2013-15.

In October 2019, Universal releases her first album under Deutsche Gramophone, featuring Ravel and Liszt’s piano concerto with Paavo Järvi and the Philharmonia Orchestra, the second one, a solo album <journey> under Decca Classics featuring works from Wagner, Schönberg and Liszt is released in May 2022.

The Orchestra del Teatro Goldoni consists of the main reference staff of the opera and symphonic seasons of the theater.
The staff, modulated according to needs, is mainly made up of the elements chosen through a selection organized by the theater in recent times, in which 290 musicians participated, many of whom are already part of the Orchestral Laboratory of the Fondazione Goldoni, located inside the theater from 2010 to 2014.
Some “first parts” will from time to time be unquestionably designated by the orchestra leaders in agreement with the directors of the individual productions.
